About Ian

I was born amid the mountains of Utah, and spent most of my life living in the long sunset shadows of Colorado mountains. Growing up in the Eighties gave me a great appreciation of pop culture, music and the written word. I wrote my first novel at age 15, a hackneyed and clichéd mess of science fiction which has thankfully been lost to the ages. During this time, I wrote my first ever piece to be published - a fictional travel guide for Steve Jackson Games' AutoDuel Quarterly, which has been reproduced in their archives here.

The Nineties brought me through college, where I earned a useless degree in order to ensure many years of thankless, dead-end jobs would follow. I also became involved in playing and running role-playing games, and eventually helped to develop a system with another author. This taught me the importance of character and plotting and set the seeds for my love of superheroes and speculative fiction.

I still live in Colorado, a bit further east than before, but I can still see the mountains from my front yard. Currently, I share a house with my wife, three children, a dog, and two cats. When not writing, I enjoy playing with my kids, watching hockey and football, science fiction movies, shows, and books, and especially getting behind the wheel and heading off to explore parts unknown.
