Ian Thomas Healy was born amid the mountains of Utah, and spent most of his life living in the long sunset shadows of Colorado mountains. Growing up in the Eighties gave him a great appreciation of pop culture, music and the written word. He wrote his first novel at age 15, a hackneyed and clichéd mess of science fiction which has thankfully been lost to the ages. During this time, he wrote his first ever piece to be published - a fictional travel guide for Steve Jackson Games' AutoDuel Quarterly, which has been reproduced in their archives here.
The Nineties brought Ian through college, where he earned a useless degree in order to ensure many years of thankless, dead-end jobs would follow. He also became involved in playing and running role-playing games, and eventually helped to develop a system with another author. This taught him the importance of character and plotting and set the seeds for his love of superheroes and speculative fiction.

Ian still lives in Colorado, a bit further east than before, but he can still see the mountains from his front yard. He shares a house with his wife, three children, a dog, and two cats. When not writing, he enjoys playing with his kids, watching hockey and football, science fiction movies, shows, and books, and especially getting behind the wheel and heading off to explore parts unknown.
