“Bwarm Bwarm Baderrr” is a sound effect stolen directly from the Douglas Adams book The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It’s how an extremely drunk Ford Prefect describes his favorite Disaster Area song to his old friend Hotblack Desiato. And cranking the volume up to eleven is a reference to This is Spinal Tap.

You also get a look at the first new set piece I’ve built in a long time: the band set. You can see the monitor speakers at the bottom as well as the PA amps in the back. I’m especially pleased with the way Smokescreen’s drum set turned out (and as an ex-drummer, it’s pretty accurate as well).

All I know is when I started this storyline, I wanted to have Shellshock with an orange mohawk. Now they’ve got the band, they’ve got the look, all that remains is for them to play some music.

One more week until the two-year anniversary…Will we find out THEN who shot Tyrant? Stay tuned, and tell your friends to read the S-Team. Gosh, I sound like Samuel Silverstein, huh?

I went for a kind of blue-collar punk look for Shellshock here (and yes, I know his face is worn – I work several weeks ahead in the strip so I’d already shot a bunch of strips and didn’t want to go back and fix them). I was thinking along the lines of The Clash with him, but somehow I just didn’t know what to do about his helmet.

And then it came to me. Tomorrow.

Drummers really do, like, sweat a lot. I’ve seen more topless drummers (especially drummers who SHOULDN’T go topless) than those who perform fully-clothed.

The Scarlet Swordsmistress finally lets her hair down. The outfit she’s wearing has been seen before in this strip, all the way back in the very beginning. It was worn by Simone DiSoto when she interviewed Samuel S. Silverstein.
