I wanted to shoot some close-quarters sets, so I built the Shuttle you see here. It’s larger than just the cockpit – it also includes the left (“port” for you astronaut types) side, which will appear in a subsequent story arc.

The yellow “windows” do not actually exist – they are filter overlays I put in with my Print Shop software.

Mr. Yelu seems to think somewhat poorly of poor Slick.

One of the funny bits about Star Trek was the way all the main officers seemed to be the ones heading down to the planets to get drunk and laid and such instead of the basic grunts, who really ought to have been the ones doing it. One well-placed tactical nuke or phaser blast from orbit and you’d be leaving a Constellation-class starship in the hands of someone like Mr. Chekov. You might as well paint a sign on the hangar bay saying Klingons enter here. Oh, and the guy in the red shirt always dies first. Apparently we as viewers aren’t the only ones to have noticed this phenomenon.

Everyone knows it’s more important to be dramatic and interesting than boring and efficient. And setting next week’s strip in a shuttlecraft gave me a chance to build a new set piece…

Captain Kirk was, of course, famous for being a ladies’ man in the number of alien ladies he shtupped. Apparently Captain Blak is cut from the same cloth.

Sometimes with Slick you can just see his gears grind to a halt.

I try to make the interplay between Yelu and Wiet and Blak as interesting as what was between Spock and McCoy and Kirk on Star Trek. I bet in the stuff you didn’t see, they all had bets going about who was going to die first on missions and how and so on.
