And at last, we meet Silence, the ninja. I debated whether to make her like Silent Bob – only speaking when she had something truly profound to say. So far, though, she’s kept any wisdom to herself. That’s probably the best plan for a ninja.

I wanted to have a larger-than-human character in the S-Team, but wasn’t sure how to do it, since all LEGO minifigs are the same size. I finally decided that I could give a regular figure larger hands/arms, make his legs a bit longer, and give him a massive head and that would have to suffice. I drew Stonewall’s face with a Sharpie marker. Those three little marks have done more to define his grumpy personality than any character development I could have done.

Trying to figure out a way to make Stretch’s arms extend was giving me fits. The tube is from an old Expert Builder series LEGO engine or an early LEGO Space kit (could be either).

Here you see a low-tech special effect. Smokescreen’s smoke is a bit of pulled cotton.

LEGO is a toy that has spread around the world, to just about every country on the globe, and yet there are so few non-white (well, non-yellow) characters. Lando Calrissian donated his head along with Harry Potter’s hair for Smokescreen. I’m honestly surprised that with all the new colors of bricks LEGO is releasing, as well as new faces and hairstyles, that there isn’t more representation of other races besides Caucasian. Of course, what can you expect from the people who gave you Mentos? Well, that’s the Netherlands, but you get my drift.
