Two years.

When I first started this webcomic, it was a lark and I had no idea it would continue for this long. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d be able to keep it going. I’d run out of time, or out of ideas, and I’d have to simply set it aside. Indeed, there have been times over the past five-hundred-plus strips I nearly did, but it has grown more and more popular and I hate to disappoint people. The graph Silverstein uses is an actual traffic report from the Statcounter information I use to track visitors to the site. Look at how the popularity of AST has exploded over the past year. I’m frankly thrilled by that, and that in turn inspires me to keep things going.

Silverstein’s comment about “Who’s Tyrant?” really describes the essential conflict of this series in two simple words: Tyrant hates Silverstein, and Silverstein doesn’t even know Tyrant exists.

I want to extend a special thanks to Chris Doyle for letting me continually use Whiskey as a “favorite perennial guest star.” I had no idea I’d enjoy having him along for the ride as much as I have. Chris also gets special recognition for sending the most readers my way because of his own brilliant comic The Brick House (or whatever he’s calling it this month!).

There will be some major changes coming to the S-Team in Year Three. First off will be a major retooling of the website from end to end including a new logo. This will begin shortly after I complete the of ianthealy.com, which is nearly complete. For a sneak peek at the new logo, you can go here (this is the portal page I will be using from my own website – please ignore the table borders – they will be gone once I have everything arranged how I want it). I’ve talked for two years about an S-Team store and I believe this will be the year it will happen. One reason for this is I may have landed an agent at the conference I just attended (read this post on my Perpetual Writer’s Blog for details), and she may be able to help me get the S-Team into some print collections or even syndication. She can also provide the legal angle I need to get permission from LEGO to sell S-Team merchandise, so wish me luck with that!

Thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support of my work. Whether you read the S-Team daily or just once in awhile, whether you comment here a lot or simply lurk, I really, truly appreciate it. And I promise you this…

…You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.

Like Whiskey, I’ve found myself listening to conversations like the band is having, and I tend to run out of patience with them too.

I suspect that the Scarlet Swordsmistress sounds a lot like that skinny waif from Flyleaf.

When I was much, much younger, I got to see Van Halen in concert. This was back when Sammy Hagar was the singer and Michael Anthony was the bass player. When they let him have a chance to perform a bass solo, I’m not kidding – everyone in the audience got up and went to get a new beer. There’s a reason that Geddy Lee of Rush keeps his solos short and sweet and sticks them in the middle of a song.
