I just noticed this strip is misnumbered as #207. That is, of course, incorrect.
The “nuke from orbit” refers to a line from Aliens, which I believe to be one of the most quotable movies along with Ghostbusters and Animal House.
Nothing like having your weekend date ruined because aliens are regrowing your face for you.
It’s very comforting when the aliens are trying to talk you out of repairing your face, isn’t it?
And I’ll bet you didn’t even know there was such a contest. Actually, I don’t know either. But if there is and you find it, please go nominate Slick.
Alert readers will notice that the aliens’ names are directly related to the color of their uniform. Is that intentional? Of course it is, silly! And naturally, the guys in red shirts are the ones who will die most frequently on away missions. But probably not in this comic. I haven’t felt the need to go “grim and gritty and people dying” the way many other comics do to try and relieve flagging sales. But since I’m not charging for AST, I can do what I want.
